MUTUAM and Mutual Medica are the promoters of the AVI. They are both non-profit mutual insurance societies with extensive experience in the field of social insurance.

MUTUAM (www.mutuam.com) is a mutual insurance society with more than 60 years' experience attending to the needs of the elderly. It provides its policyholders with a wide range of services: home care, teleassistance, management of assisted-living residences and sheltered apartments for the elderly, social and healthcare centres, etc. It also provides advice on how to apply for public aid for the elderly. Its staff includes lawyers, economists, etc. who have expert knowledge of issues involving the elderly. MUTUAM has centres throughout Catalonia and has become a benchmark in care for the elderly.

Mutual Mèdica (www.mutualmedica.com) is a mutual insurance society that has provided the medical profession with coverage since it was created in 1920. It has been operating in the world of insurance for many years and now includes dependence policies (currently more than 6000) among the products in its portfolio.

These two mutualities have been collaborating for more than 10 years to help the elderly. And to provide a new service for dependent and disabled people, they have now created the Association for Independent Living.
